Sharjah Ruler meets top Arab artists at opening of SPAA

During his speech, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has lauded the remarkable role of the emirate’s cultural work in the field of theater, highlighting its contribution to support the education. He continued to say that in 1955 the theater supported the development of education, through a play that was performed by Al Qasimia School students, pointing out that the proceeds from ticket sales used to build additional classes for the School’s students, enabling it to attract more students on that time.
His Highness has further underscored the significant importance of the theater in Sharjah, stressing on its role in discussing various topics concerning to different societal issues of all segments of the community.
Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi has also highlighted the importance of establishing such performing arts academy, stressing on its role in highlighting the dangers of extremists' ideological currents .
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah has called on the attendees to recommend the Academy for talented people in their countries and encourage them to come and study at the Academy, highlighting the importance of creation a new artistic generation with consciousness of artistic works.
Sheikh Sultan stressed that the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy came to complete the work of theatrical institutes in the Arab world and that Sharjah is fully prepared to provide moral and material support to all institutes concerned with theater.
For their part, the guests expressed their pride in this great cultural and theatrical achievement, which will carry a great message in the rehabilitation of academic cadres, thanking His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his continuous support to the theater and appreciating his giving.
The meeting was attended by a number of heads departments and a number of members of the Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy.
