Dubai Opera is full of distinguished theatrical performances throughout the year, to be an icon of culture and beauty and a center for attracting connoisseurs of music and theatrical performances.
Where “Dubai Opera”, in cooperation with “Broadway Entertainment Group”, presents the performances of the famous musical “Broken Wings”, on tomorrow and the day after (Friday and Saturday), which is based on the story of the late Lebanese writer Gibran Khalil Gibran, which he published in 1912 and bearing the same title. It tells of his personal suffering.
Yesterday, the Sharjah Academy of Performing Arts hosted the ""Broken Wings"" team for artistic residency and rehearsals in its world-class facilities.
This collaboration provides an ideal opportunity to enhance theatrical activity in the region and provides the Academy’s undergraduate performing arts students with valuable hands-on experience with the supervision of respected industry experts from around the world, helping them gain a deeper understanding and insight into following in the footsteps of successful actors and theater technicians on stage, the world and their working lives.
On this occasion, Professor Peter Barlow, Director of Sharjah Performing Arts Academy, said: “We are pleased to host the Broken Wings theater team before the theatrical show in Dubai Opera in the context of our mission and our belief in the role of the theater, and I am excited to see our students interact with the opportunity to see a professional company and work closely with it.”
The Academy specially designed for the performing arts includes a group of advanced facilities, including two theaters, workshops for the manufacture of theatrical decorations and paint and the fashion and clothing industry, a green screen studio, 12 studios for singing and sound recording, 12 studios for dance and acting, a library, cafe, and a fully equipped gymnasium, etc. The theater team can perform full rehearsals before performances in Dubai Opera, as well as interact with academic staff and students.
Barlow added, “Some students’ parents may be concerned about the future of their children in the performing arts, so the cast of representatives was keen to share their personal experiences in professional performance with our students and reviewed a wide range of exciting opportunities and careers available for graduates of performing arts.
