Andrea Forde is an accomplished Costume Designer, Costume Supervisor, and Published Author, currently serving as Lead Costume Tutor at Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA). With over 30 years of experience in costume design across theatre, film, and television, Andrea brings a wealth of industry knowledge to her role, where she develops and delivers curriculum for the BA Production Arts Program. She is deeply passionate about mentoring students, helping them bridge the gap between academia and the professional world.

Educational Background and Qualifications

Andrea’s educational journey began with a Diploma in Fashion, completed in 1986. She further advanced her knowledge by earning a Fellowship in Education in 2022 and is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). In addition, she is working towards a Master of Arts (MA) in Costume Design and Production. She has also completed an Advance H.E. Teaching Course in December 2021. Her qualifications reflect her dedication to continual learning and professional growth in the field of education and costume design.

She is proficient in industry-standard design software, such as Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. Throughout her career, Andrea has worked on award-winning productions, collaborating with renowned directors such as Sir Peter Hall on Shakespeare plays and contributing to notable works like Blood Brothers and Media. In television, she held key roles, including as a Production Buyer for Brookside and Hollyoaks. She has also worked on Tony Award-winning productions and BAFTA Award-winning short films, such as Say Goodbye.

In addition to her extensive professional work, Andrea has contributed to charitable causes, raising funds for Cancer Research through her involvement with Mersey TV. Her published research on diversity and inclusion in the performing arts has made a significant impact on promoting more inclusive practices within the industry.
