Alex Jessop
Programme Leader - Dance

Alex Jessop is an accomplished dancer, choreographer, and educator, currently serving as Programme Leader for Dance at Sharjah Performing Arts Academy. He received his formal training at Laine Theatre Arts in the UK, where he earned a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre from the University of Creative Arts, alongside a Trinity Level 6 Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre.
Alex specializes in Jazz Dance technique and choreography, with a focus on the work of Bob Fosse, as well as audition technique, physical storytelling, and performance. His teaching style is informed by his vast professional experience, and he regularly serves as a guest teacher and choreographer at multiple prestigious performing arts academies in London. Alex has also been Head of Dance at Italia Conti Academy, London, and was a guest adjudicator and masterclass host at the Global Dance Open finals in 2024. His choreography credits include three Main Stage Jazz performance pieces for Italia Conti at the annual 'Move It' conference at the ExCel Centre, London.
Alex's performance career includes roles in renowned productions such as Chicago (Adelphi Theatre, London), where he performed as 'Swing'; We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre, London) as Ensemble/1st cover 'Galileo'; Saturday Night Fever (UK Tour and Apollo Victoria Theatre, London) as 'Bobby C'/Alternate 'Tony Manero'; Movie Out (Apollo Victoria Theatre, London) as 'Drill Sergeant'; Mamma Mia! (International Tour and Prince of Wales Theatre, London) as 'Pepper'/'Eddie'; and Wicked (Apollo Victoria Theatre, London) as 'Boq'.
In addition to his theatre work, Alex had the privilege of performing with the late Victoria Wood in the 'Coffee Palaver' sketch for Sky TV at the Haymarket Theatre in London, as part of 'The Angina Monologues' charity event. His diverse performance background and dedication to dance education make him a highly respected figure in the performing arts community.
