Alan Mandel has enjoyed a diverse and successful career in the entertainment industry, working as an actor, director, and educator across stage, screen, and audio. After graduating from the University of Reading with a BA in Film, Theatre & Television, Alan embarked on a professional acting career. His work includes notable film and TV projects such as *Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them*, *Rocketman*, *Eastenders*, *War Horse*, and most recently, lending his voice to the Netflix horror film *No One Gets Out Alive*. In addition to these high-profile projects, Alan has appeared in a variety of advertisements, off West-End and touring theatre productions, award-winning short films, and audio dramas.


As a director, Alan has worked across multiple mediums. His directing credits include the award-winning audio drama *Red Valley*, available on all podcast platforms. He also served as festival and fight director for the Stroud Shakespeare Festival, where he directed productions of *Romeo + Juliet* and *Twelfth Night*. His critically acclaimed sell-out fringe run of *Frankenstein: The Metal Opera* at The Space Theatre further showcased his directing talents. Alan has also devised and directed innovative productions such as *After a Storm* at Exeter Northcott Theatre, *The Space Between* at Camden People’s Theatre, and the immersive, site-specific *Those That Remain* at Berkeley Power Station. In film, Alan’s credits include music videos for Electric Swing Circus and Belly of the Steel Beast, assistant directing the indie film project *The Underwater Realm*, fight directing the music video *Friend or Foe* for Madcap, and developing a series of anthropological documentaries for the Pitt Rivers Museum.


Alongside his creative work, Alan is a dedicated educator. Over the past 19 years, he has taught acting, directing, and stage combat workshops to emerging artists in the UK and USA. He holds teaching qualifications (QTS & PGCE) from Goldsmiths, University of London, and completed an MA in Professional Arts Practice (Artistic Practitioner) from Middlesex University. Alan has served as Head of Department and Course Leader at various institutions, and many of his students have gone on to successful careers in the performing arts.
