Heather Davies BFA MFA

Programme Leader - Postgraduate Studies

Heather trained in Canada and the UK. Her professional experiences afforded her opportunities to work in the USA, Canada, UK, and Europe for more than twenty years, including London’s West End, regional theatres, national and international tours, and three years at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Heather holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Theatre, from Ryerson University, Toronto, a Diploma in Acting from Webber Douglas, London, UK, and a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Theatre (Directing) from York University, Toronto.

Most recently Heather lived and worked in Canada, including two seasons as Artistic Associate at the Grand Theatre in London, Ontario, and five years as the first Artistic Director of the multi-discipline Ryga Arts Festival, while also writing, adapting, directing theatre.

Her professional directing work includes large-scale musicals, new and contemporary writing, literature adapted for live performance, as well as Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Informed by her training and experience as a dancer, singer, and actor, Heather’s approach to theatre-making and inspiring emerging artists is holistic and multi-disciplinary.

As an arts educator, Heather has also enjoyed teaching and directing at theatre schools including Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Royal Academy of Art, Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, University of Southern Florida, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Windsor, and St. Clair College.
