Dr Nadia M. Alhasani

Professor and Dean – College of Fine Arts and Design, University of Sharjah

Dr Nadia M. Alhasani is Professor and Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Design at the University of Sharjah. She completed her bachelor degree from the University of Baghdad, and graduate degrees from MIT and the University of Pennsylvania.

She held deanship positions at the Higher Colleges of Technology and the Petroleum Institute, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the American University of Sharjah, as well as teaching positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Miami of Florida, Notre Dame of Indiana, and Michigan.

Dr Alhasani is the co-recipient of the 2016 Khalifa Award for Education, 2006-7 Research Fellow at the Aga Khan Program at MIT, 1994 National ACSA Faculty Teaching Award, Washington DC, 1992 Graham Foundation Grant, Chicago, and 1990-91 Willard A. Oberdick Fellowship from the University of Michigan.

She serves on the Task Force on the Teaching of Science in the Muslim World, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDEW) under the auspice of the UNESCO, and the Advisory Council of the Sharjah International Foundation for History of Arab and Muslim Sciences (SIFHAMS).
