* SOUND TUTOR
The Sound Tutor will develop and deliver under and post graduate training and assessment in Sound Design and Schematics to a world leading industry standard.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Programme Leader (Production Arts) of the Academy, the Sound Tutor shall execute the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Leadership and training of students on the production arts courses in professional theatre and event sound and relevant technologies.
- Contributing to the Academy’s commitment to the continuous raising of standards in the training of students for careers in the arts and entertainment industry and development of new technologies.
- Maintaining the professional currency of the training in theatre sound and new technologies through contact with the industry, for both staff development and to maintain a professional currency of the curriculum.
Essential knowledge and skills:
- Relevant undergraduate qualification.
- Experience of teaching and working at HE level.
- Excellent IT skills including QLab

* VIDEO TUTOR
The Video Tutor will develop and deliver under and post graduate training and assessment in Video Design and Schematics to a world-leading industry standard.

* VOICE TUTOR
The Voice Tutor is responsible for undertaking innovative practice for all voice related activities at SPAA. The Voice Tutor is responsible for serving voice support and teaching to all programmes. There is a particular interest for voice specialist with experience and skills in accent and dialect.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Programme Leader (Acting) of the Academy, the Voice Tutor shall execute the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Organise and facilitate the faculty pertaining to all activities connected with voice and modules with spoken voice content
- Reporting directly to Programme Leaders, and ultimately the Executive Director, to develop, build and maintain the innovative teaching within the voice provision across programmes
- Through the Voice Faculty, facilitate clear schemes of work and implement voice module assessments with clear feedback for students
- Teach a variety of the flowing voice classes: practical voice, voice in text, accent and dialect
- Develop short courses in voice and vocal confidence for educators and business executives
- Organise and execute classes in (not all): one to one voice, accent and dialect, voice in text, practical voice, projects and productions.
Essential:
- Excellent skills in voice pedagogy
- Teaching a variety of vocal pedagogy
- Knowledge of Phonetics
- Accent and Dialect skills
- Wide knowledge of playwrights, theatre, film and musical repertoire
- HE/Drama school teaching
- Direct industry experience

* ACTING TUTOR – RECORDED MEDIA
Alongside the Programme Leader (Acting) and other colleagues, the Acting Tutor – Recorded Media will develop and deliver training and assessment in Acting for Recorded Media to a world leading standard.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Programme Leader (Acting) of the Academy, the Acting Tutor – Recorded Media shall execute the following tasks and responsibilities:
- To provide a high-quality learning environment in order to develop student potential within the Academy
- Develop and deliver acting classes across all four years of all undergraduate programmes with a focus on recorded media sessions, such as Acting for Camera, and projects including: film, TV, commercials, presenting (using auto-cue), Children’s TV, voice over and radio
- It will be expected that the post holder will also be able to teach other acting techniques in addition to this.
Essential:
- Proven and verifiable professional experience of working as an actor/director in theatre/recorded media or other relevant professional experience
- Appropriate qualification at degree level or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience via industry or professional practice
- Knowledge and skill in using camera, microphone, video and audio editing equipment
- Subject specialist knowledge of acting methods by well-known practitioners and directors

* SPECIALIST TUTOR – MUSIC
The Specialist Music Tutor is responsible for direct teaching and planning within music related activities at SPAA. The Specialist Music Tutor has a key role in delivering effective practice within the delivery of modules containing music related tuition.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Lead Music Tutor, the Specialist Music Tutor shall execute the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Direct teaching pertaining to all activities within the Music modules
- With the Lead Music Tutor and further team, develop and implement all Music courses within SPAA
- Collaborating with the Lead Music Tutor and music faculty to facilitate music module assessments and provide constructive feedback
- Execute classes in: one-to-one repertoire, group singing, score reading and extended projects and auditions (not an exhaustive list)
- Cultivate advanced practice within music pedagogy and singing through continued CPD.
Essential:
- Excellent skills in music pedagogy
- Advanced piano / accompanying skills
- Editing scores and band parts
- Creating click tracks and using recording-based software for performance-based tracks
- Using notation software to create and edit arrangements
- Conducting abilities
- Teaching a variety of vocal pedagogy

The Lead Dance Tutor is a full-time role at Sharjah Performing Arts Academy and is responsible for assisting with the logistical programming and innovative practice for all dance and movement related activities at SPAA.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Programme Leader – Dance, the Lead Dance Tutor shall execute the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Organise and facilitate the faculty pertaining to all activities within the dance, movement and fitness modules
- Supervise and coach all dance tutors - ability to mentor, manage and share practice and pedagogy
- Develop and oversee all dance tutors’ schemes of work for compliance within Academy’s teaching and learning policies
- Organise and execute classes in a range of dance styles and techniques, with a clearly defined specialism in at least one genre
- Cultivate advanced practice within movement and dance through continued CPD
- Through the dance faculty, facilitate dance module assessments with clear progressive feedback for students
- Assist with timetabling and schedules for the dance courses
Essential:
- BA Degree and significant experience and/or additional qualifications in professional performing arts education and training
- At least 10 years’ experience teaching within a vocational performing arts institution
- Must be trained in multiple disciplines, with specialist knowledge and training in one particular genre
- A broad scope of applied dance skills and theoretical knowledge for student graduate study
- Previous experience in assessment/feedback procedure
- Understanding within student assessment and feedback

The Dance Tutor is a full-time role at Sharjah Performing Arts Academy and will be responsible for teaching dance technique and style to students from beginner to advanced level.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Lead Dance Tutor, the Dance Tutor shall execute the following tasks and responsibilities:
- Teach using various methodologies and techniques from beginner to advanced level
- Develop dance curriculums and prepare lesson plans in line with SPAA policies
- Evaluate student performance and offer constructive and supportive feedback
- Choreograph routines, projects and productions
- Provide safe, creative environments but still providing rigorous dynamic dance training
- Teach on all programmes and courses throughout SPAA (Diploma, BA, MA, short courses and Saturday school)
Essential:
- BA Degree and significant experience and/or additional qualifications in professional performing arts education and training
- At least 5 years’ experience teaching within a vocational performing arts institution
- Trained in multiple dance disciplines
