His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah unveiled the commemorative plaque marking the SPAA’s official opening. Then, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah inspected SPAA’s building facilities, including the training rooms and studios.
The Academy is the first of its kind in the Arab world specialised in the theatrical and performing arts, and works to prepare a qualified generation specialised in theater arts in all disciplines, in accordance with the latest methods of teaching and global learning.
The Academy provides a number of programs covering all the different fields of theater, according to an academic theoretical and practical integrated study, to graduate qualified cadres, aiming to promote theater industry in the future.
During the opening ceremony, Professor Peter Barlow, Director of the Sharjah Academy of the Performing Arts has thanked His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah for his efforts in supporting culture and the arts.
During the ceremony, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah watched the play "The Book of God: The Conflict between Light and Darkness" written by His Highness, produced by Sharjah National Theater, and directed by Mohammed Al Ameri. The play dealt with the conflict between light and darkness, trying to shed light on the present real situation through five consecutive scenes.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah shook hands with the team at the end of the show. Souvenir photo was taken with His Highness Sheikh Sultan to commemorate the occasion.
